A VALE man fell asleep in the dock last week while awaiting sentence for drug possession.
Johnathan Dey, 33, had to be wakened by a police officer after he nodded off during proceedings at Dumbarton Sheriff Court.
The court had heard how Dey, of Milton Estate in Jamestown, was stopped by police on a footpath close to Auchenreoch Avenue, Dumbarton, at 5.45pm on June 17, after acting suspiciously.
Dey was searched under the Misuse of Drugs Act and he was found to have a packet of 16 tablets of diazepam – which aid sleep and also are used to relieve anxiety – in his waistband.
Dey was then interviewed and he admitted to police that the tablets were Valium. He refused to say how much they were worth, although the court heard they were valued at around 50p a tablet.
